Music is the voice for freedom, hope and resonance with the soul.  It is a sacred art that transcends regional and cultural boundaries. This upcoming concert hosted by Idle Folks Band will demonstrate that the power of music lies in connection, not division. Founded in 2023 by tech engineers passionate in music, Idle Folks Band pioneers innovations of Chinese folk music and fuses Chinese traditional instruments with diverse modern music styles, and presents their original music in the Bay Area.

This one-of-a-kind concert is also a precious chance to witness a world-class musician: Erhu Maestro Jiebin Che.  Jiebin Chen graduated from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music in China. She has won the first prize for excellent performance at the National Traditional Instrumental Music Competition organized by the Ministry of Culture of China in 1982 and performed across the world, earning the title “Marvelous Strings.”  She came to the US in 1989 and obtained her master in music theory. She collaborated with numerous renowned American symphony orchestras and music ensembles, showcasing the unique charm of the erhu at various international music festivals and professional performances. Her captivating stage presence won the hearts of American audiences, earning her the title “Spirits on Two Strings.” In 1996, Chen Jiebin received a Grammy Award nomination for Best World Music Album. Her extraordinary works have demonstrated the power of interconnecting diverse cultures in music.  She is the master of innovative integration of traditional Chinese and Western music on the international stage. Music director of this concert is Phil Young, a renowned composer and conductor in SF Bay Area.
